Ujiyamada Station

Ujiyamada Station (宇治山田駅 -eki?) is a train station on the Kintetsu Yamada Line and Toba Line located in Ise, Mie Prefecture, Japan.

It was established as the closest station to Ise Grand Shrine and thus played an important role for tourists and pilgrims, especially in the past when trains were the most pervasive form of long-distance travel.

Station structure

The station has a one-sided platform and a bay platform. They are on the third floor of the building.

The only entrance to the building is on the west of the first floor and, in spite of its being an elevated station, one cannot leave a platform directly and exit the east of the station.

The platform 1・2 wire, Toba, comes to a dead end, and a lapel train at this station is housed there. Trains only travel to the Toba and Kashikojima area from the platform 3・4 wire. There is a stand in the platform 4.

The ground and there is a place where it is connected with the slope on 1 annealing wire side. The limited express bus of Toba and Kashikojima drove before the Toba line began operating, and was connected with the limited express train at this station. After the Toba Line began operating, a periodic sight-seeing bus also drove to the Toba and Kashikjima area, but the bus was discontinued.

A royal suite is established in the second floor. Originally a penthouse on the building's east end, it was used as a fire watch tower, and became the firefighting headquarters of postwar Ise.
